Big Visual Timer

5:00

A large, calm countdown for the whiteboard. The ring shrinks as time passes, turns amber in the last minute and red in the last ten seconds, and a soft three-note chime tells the class time is up.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It works from the clock time at which it will finish, not by counting ticks, so it stays accurate. Keep the tab open, because closing it ends the timer.

What is the longest time I can set?

180 minutes (three hours). Type any whole number of minutes from 1 to 180 in the Custom minutes box.

Can I turn the sound off?

Yes. Untick “Chime at the end” before you start. The chime is generated by your browser, so there is no sound file to load.

Why does the ring change colour?

To give the class a visual warning without any talking. It turns amber when one minute is left and red for the final ten seconds.
